First Time StormBot

This page is geared toward users who are installing StormBot along with a new eggdrop bot. This means that the bot has not been executed for the first time or the user files and channel file have been removed.

When starting an eggdrop bot for the first time, the -m parameter needs to be used in the execution command. This tells eggdrop to create the channel and user files. Once eggdrop is executed, follow the instructions that follow its execution. This step is required and must be done first. The steps outlined at the end of the execution identify who receives bot owner privileges.

After being identified as an owner by the bot, the login process follows on IRC:

/MSG <YOUR_BOT_NICKNAME> LOGIN <YOUR_PASSWORD> <YOUR_CURRENT_NICKNAME>

This will complete the login process. The bot may now join a channel by issuing the JOIN command:

/MSG <YOUR_BOT'S_NICKNAME> JOIN <CHANNEL_NAME>

Once the bot has joined a channel, commands issued through channels may be used.
